Tipu Jayanti: Section 144 clamped in Udupi District
Udupi: In the wake of the opposition against Tipu Jayanti getting louder, Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh has clamped prohibitory orders (Section 144) across the district from 6:00 am on Wednesday, November 9 to 6 am on Friday (November 11) to maintain peace in the district.
In an order issued on Tuesday, the DC said that excluding government programmes, the district administration has banned procession, protests, rallies, public programmes, and political meetings. Assembly of more than five persons is banned during the period. The prohibitory order will be relaxed on November 10 at the Tipu Jayanti programme venue premises, he said.
The district police have tightened security across Kodagu district in view of Tipu Jayanti on November 10.
Speaking to Mangalorean.com SP K T Balakrishna said that 3 KSRP, 10 DAR, and 100 Homeguards have additionally been deployed in the district. check posts have been set up in the district. All vehicles entering the district will be screened. Processions and public programmes have been banned in the district on the deputy commissioner’s order, he added.
